Man maths at work :) Pulley+belts=camshafts

Nice gains overall which should make it much more usable and funnnnnnnn

Nice one. I do love the logic on the cost front, been explaining this to the wife and she nearly agreed.

Haha it was total man maths on all fronts. I was like 'needs dephaser, might as well do cambelt and auxiliary belts. What work replaces that anyway...cams!!!'

It did cost me a fair old amount but for how it feels and sounds it was worth it. Had a couple of comments on another forum about it not making that much extra but actually when you consider it only made 155bhp initially, it's had a 23bhp increase and a big change in driveability!

Oh and it needed the main engine mount replaced which they did for the cost of the parts, which was nice :)

Next plans are a catback system which I have been told will make the most of the new cams and should make a possible 5-10bhp, which would be nice.
Cue the next instalment of man maths-

After doing the cams, it sould be silly to choke them with a poor inlet and exhaust

Obviously the bigger brakes will be too big for the wheels so new alloys would be in order...

Would be rude not to go and pick up a front and rear Whiteline ARB while you're getting the coilovers

Hahaha this thread has made me chuckle, such a petrol heads mentality!! Love it!! lol

Well exhaust is next on the agenda and some springs, no coilovers as I want to be able to use it on the road without my spine crumbling! lol

We're in the process of having our garden sorted which means a new shed, which means space to store my freshly removed back seats haha. The list is :

Strip the back out
Cat back exhaust
Springs
Have even more fun!!

In past experience, i've had a comfier ride with coilovers instead of springs!

Get dampening adjustable and you'd be sorted, softer setting on roads, hard for when you get to track!

I'm kinda going on my basis of the KW coilovers I had on my old Lupo, bone shakingly harsh but great on smooth roads and cornered well.

I will do a bit more homework on the suspension side of things though. :)

Here's a shonky video to give you an idea of the noice from the car, that's pre-5000rpm too.

Springs were definitely a harsher ride than Cup spec.

Compared to the Apex springs, BC coilovers on mid damping setting are realy quite comfy and probably on par with the standard setup but can go softer or harder. I don't get why the 172 and 133 kits are the same price when theres no topmount listed as being included on the 172 :? Obviously the topmounts fit a 172 as they were developed from mk2 clio ones???

I just need to balance up better handling vs cost as springs are sub £200 where as coilies are £300+.

I'm waiting for the engine cover to come back from being painted then will get some pics of my engine bay. :)

Well this weekend the car was mostly details, spent an age yesterday washing, claying, washing, polishing and finally waxing the Clio then of course today it rained! lol

But at least the Collinite 845 is beading nicely.

Also cracked out the DA and polished up the headlights properly. First received a going over with a light cutting pad and Meguiars Scratch-X then refined with Autoglym SRP and a finishing pad. 99% sorted now. :)

All it needs now is a new set of reg plates with out the GB logo, clean and fresh :)

Lovely looking car, interior looks excellent and those headlights have come up a treat! Was going to comment when I got to the end of the thread saying the headlights need doing after the photo of the car on the rollers
