I have just had mine done for free even though my car is out of warranty. I phone Renault customer service and complained about the issue, They said that they weren't going to pay for it.In the end I went to Masters Renault Beckenham and they told me that it was manufacturing fault, they then offered to do it for free as my car has way under 60k miles on the clock.

I'm going to Renault Cardiff on Tuesday when it's booked in for an inspection, I'll also be taking a print-out of this thread to prove to them it is a common fault. How come the Renault you went to recognised it was a manufacturers fault and not any other Renault's?

I first went to renault toomey in essex and they said that It would cost me £580.00 . After hearing that I jumped on the the phone to Renault customer service as explained above. To be honest I dont know why but all they said to me is from the diagnosis that they did they could see that it was a manufacturer fault and not wear and tear. You just have to put foot down.

Ridiculous price. They'll only split again in a couple of years and it'll be the same situation all again. They really need to do a recall on this.
