And we have told renault that its a common fault and they don't recognise it as one, plus far as I'm aware there was a slightly updated part.

Also I have told RUK about this problem myself on the phone and even directed them to the thread on here and they won't listen to an owners forum as its all 'opinions' to them so your suggestion won't work.
 
it is not a common fault until recognised by the manufacturer. up until my last look at technical bulletins from renault on friday there is no common fault been issued by renault on the renault twingo. i can also gurantee you that they are only identified and acknowledged through renault service workshops where these faults are picked up, not through somebody on the phone who's a bit annoyed.
if someone in admin would like to put together under their name, a formal complaint of the nature discussed on this topic plus a list of people to include names and basic contact details with a description of their actual case history with the problem in hand, their complaint as well as their worry with having to replace expensive parts prematurely then i can forward it onto my old boss, a renault service manager who's a close family friend whom in turn can / will forward it to regional management in renault - uk.
it's a completely different story when a joint complaint is put in writing, that cannot be ignored. i can at least forward it, and keep all informed. it's only an offer to try and get things done nothing more!
 
I'm sorry but Renault mechanics don't even pick up on the fault. Mine is well and truly split, so much that you can put a couple of fingers in the gap! We knew this before it went into the garage however had to be checked first which I understand. The wheels weren't even removed and I'll tell you how I know cuz the locking nuts were in my handbag. To actually look at the ball joints properly the wheels need to be removed. Not once was I approached asking for the locking nut.
Now I'm aware this could just be this one garage and the rest are fine but the customer service we had was unbelievable. We now have no choice but to buy the part from karl and fit ourselves.
 
couldn't agree more caz, although taking the wheel of isn't required when checking for worn or faulty ball joints. this isn't exactly a thorough guide, and it doesn't give much detail on how to check both upper and lower seperately https://www.wikihow.com/Check-Ball-Joints
 
If they're only acknowledged as a common fault mr.knowitall how come that they still deny it after almost every 133 we know of has had to replace this part for the exact reason as the others?

If you answered this, I didn't bother reading all of that due to bad or lack of paragraphing making it a pain to read.

as i said, it is not acknowledged as a common fault. edited it for you to make it easier to read, text editors crap on older samsung's.
 
I have just ordered a new set from evanshalshaw in Durham and it's a problem that thay know about in the dealership.
 
Picked up my new arms today and there has been a letter A stamped extra anyone know what it's for?

Mine have gone as well n/s and i have play in the joint been told £150 from renault for both items anyone found cheaper.
 
I got a pair and going to change them tomorrow. Cheapest I got was 162 Inc vat each.
 
Yeah that would be each. I take it that it's the whole arm that is the lower suspension joint you can't just replace the ball joint like on most cars
