Not related to the Twingo, but I seriously needed to do some track time, so last Sunday, I went to le Mans to see a friend who is an ACO and Porsche instructor. I spent the day driving and training on a Pescarolo prototype with Cosworth engine.

Setup initially with 250hp, for 3 sessions, and then 300hp for the last session.

It's not the Nürburgring, we were only 4 on track during training sessions in my group, but it's still cool to watch, and it's a bit different from the Twingo.

Laptimes are :
250hp - reference is 1'48"7 from one of the instructor who raced Le Mans 24H -> my best lap is 1'51"
300hp - reference is 1'43"2 -> my best lap is 1'46"

I never drove the track before, nor the car. I still have a rather big margin of improvement but will do it again next year. Instructors asked me if I would be interested in joining them in their team for some races in 2015 :p

No news recently as we didn't get much time to work on the car.

the wiring diagram is ready and on paper, the car will be back at the shop this weekend to get the last sensors fitted next week. Then back to the electronics and mapping.

Looking at getting some track time in early November.

In the meantime, I got myself a nice E30 as a daily driver, done some work on it already

I guess no one would mind some pics of the Bimmer

Went to the Nurburgring last Sunday and it was freaking awesome! I would love to be a passenger in the Twingo 2.0 some time :) .

I'll get some pics uploaded of the BMW. Still doing some work on it, but getting close to having it in a really good shape.

No problem to take passengers in the Twingo once it will be working 100%.

The E30 when I got it, shot suspensions, disc brakes were dead, steering was more like aiming a supertanker at some kind of earth...

And currently as is with all suspension new, lowered 60-40mm front / rear, new steering rods, bushings with powerflex stuff everywhere, new discs.

New stainless steel custom exhaust coming soon, as well as a complete set of 16x8" Rota Grid V in Bronze finish to give it a good stance :D

Also, on the Twingo front, we've dropped it at the workshop this morning to fit all the sensors, and the new injection system. Work will be carried out next week, then off to electronics and mapping.

It looks nice and all, but I can't help but want more, so this winter, as soon as I can get my hands on a place to wrok on the car, I'l strip it down, work on the new wider fenders to accomodate the tires a bit better, and lower the car even more. Also switching everything to Powerflex bushes, building an adjustable front sway bar, and some other ideas laying around in my head.

Don't know if I'll track it before Xmas, depends on the weather here and how the car feels on the road.

New wheels received and fitted tonight!

The E30 has a 316 1800cc carburated engine. Enough to take me to work and have some sideways idiotic fun under the rain :p

very nice. i love e30's.

at this rate i think u will forget about the twingo and the beamer will become your new project :p

No, far from it. But i work on the E30 and the motorbike to keep myself busy while the Twingo is still in the shop. We're hoping to get it back this weekend, which is a 4 day weekend so maybe we'll get it completed and mapped.

I've got registered in advance in 3 trackdays in November just in case that I can cancel anytime, then I must find a way to get to the Ring to test it before the winter.

Wiechers has recently released a full cage for the Twingo (bolted) so i'm trying to get them to deliver one for me that I will weld during the winter, modifying it as a 8 point cage.

very nice.

yer i have got a few track days booked in for november before they shut for the winter, then to the ring next year for a couple of laps and will have to make sure i come when you are there :)

I see on Wiechers many option for the cage. can't you take just the option to fit your need? (j'ai cru voir que les arceau était hautement customisable mais peut être pas pour al twingo)

I ticked all options for the maximum diameter, all crosses everywhere and so on.

I got the workshop on the phone today, and we pick up the car tomorrow morning to start installing the ECU and wiring. All mapping should be finished mid week.

Had fun today on Forza :

On on a more "down to earth" side of things : the car should get it's first test runs tomorrow with the new ECU. I'll try to drive over to my electronician's house with the GoPro in order to get some shots of the first tests.
