I have Renault Sport on Facebook and recently they posted a video of a guy in a Twingo ripping through on the Nurburgring with a tweaked up Twingo (stripped on the inside) setting a very nice lap time. He only gets overtaken by cars that have 3 times the engine size.

I believe he was called Jeremy.. or something. Was this you?

Anthony, and that´s me :)

Renault Sport asked me to put the video on their FB page after a member from the french forum sent them the link.
It´s has since been around the engineering studios apparently and one of the chief engineers showed it to some bigger chiefs to get approval for a more extreme RS version, showing that with a few upgrades you can do some good stuff with that car.

Could this be the start of an RS133R, like the Meg RS26R

Maybe.. something like that could even (potentially) make the new look twingo RS look really good

*shivvers of joy*
Ohhhh PLEASE! We've all been good Mr. Renault, please let us have an Extreme Twingo with plastic windows, LSD, Titanium Exhaust and a rollcage *flutters eyelashes* :D

Back to topic.

That's pretty awesome that you're pretty much the brand ambassator for Twingo RS's trackday ventures in Mainland Europe, Al being UK

That's really cool, mate!

But even if Renault would offer a lightweight version of the RS (the RSR?) power should be upped, 133 bhp is just to little for a lightweight track day special...

139 suits me fine for now as I've got a lot of improvement to do on the driving before getting the Clio RS Cup engine in the baby :)

That was some very nice driving.

I'm trying to convince my dad to go aloung with me to take my car to the Nurburgring & see how it handles (also so we can share the cost. 24€ for one lap is not nothing).

But first I want to put the Eibach suspension on before doing that.

I've also received a tip before going on the green hell is to take some lessons on Gran Turismo 5 with a car that is similiar to your own car because the ring is unforgivable when you make mistakes. Not much space between the gras and the guardrails..

GT is not going to teach you anything, apart from "does it turn left or right?".

The best is to just go on a day when it´s not so busy, and early in the morning, do a few laps alone, then do a few laps with someone experienced so he can give you some advices.

Yes I know GT is not the same but its for getting to know the track because it makes a few sharp turns just when your on a climb.

But the bumps on the circuit and changes in grip level aren't truly represented in the game, so you get a false feeling of security. A friend had a big fright as he knew the ring very well from GT, but should have been going slower as he didn't know the actual circuit.

I did lots of lots of lots of laps in GT4, GT5 and Forza 3 and when I arrived at the ring I was suprised how useless my "track experience" was. first time uphill at fuchsröhre I almost crashed as the PS3 never made me aware of this tiny little bump in the road that lets your rear end loose... also some of the curbs are... well... let's say: slightly different.

best thing is really to slowly get to know the track. do not try to push it from the start, just because the lap tickets are expensive.

Yeah, I've made countless laps in GT, but when I was on actual track adrenaline and excitement took control over me instead of my brain and I was lost after few turns 8). What was hugely surprising is that Nurburgring has very steep hills (compared to game) and G-force on that is what no game can give You. It's totally different experience, but I think practicing in GT/Forza is better than no experience at all.
Luckily (for armco ;)) I was there only for 1 lap (wish it was 100 laps...), and my brakes gave up after 1/4 of track, so I had to go much slower then I wanted.
Oh, and yeah - did I mentioned I was there in Renault Kangoo? :p

lol

I did a lap in a 1.5 DCI Scenic 1st Gen a couple of weeks ago, almost never had so much fun on this track with any other car :)

Engine was great, but brakes were disappointing me, especially on that single lap ;). But my dream came true, been there, done lap. Want more ;)
I've upgraded discs in Kangoo to Zimmerann Sport and pads to Ferrodo DS2000 and it was massive improvement.
Anyways, enough of nurb offtopic from me :)
