I've always kept myself straight using bicep curls never throw back but I never do them always do bicep pull ups a yea it will use slight more energy hardly anything though as you have momentum but it means the normal muscles you use for strict arnt getting as fatigued meaning they can be used more

Ps normal bicep curls also engage your core a lot more

So to sum up

Kipping pull up = Endurance/cardio (more work done and high heart rate)
Strict form pull up = Strength and hypertrophy (more time under tension)

Obviously depending on rep range and if there is added weight

Starting tomorrow me and a friend will be doing Shaun t's insanity programme looking forward to it
I've seen that! Looked a bit gay IMO but there's no arguing that it'll get you in shape and all you have to do is do everything he says

It looks pretty cheesy, I'm basically doing it to test myself

It seriously tests you! I was 10 minutes in on one of the videos and almost swimming in my own sweat.

Personnally i do the Tough Mudder boot camp as an almost daily exercise.

Available here for download, 3 different levels (i currently do the hardest, but can't finish it yet as it's painfully hard tbh!).

https://toughmudder.com/tough-mudder-boot-camp-training/

Combined with 3-4 runs of 7 miles a week, though i follow an awful diet, i stay in shape and actually get better.

Tomorrow I'll be off at 6am for my first obstacle race of the year, east of Frankfurt, 26km (approx 16 miles) with 39 obstacles, 3000 runners. I'm looking to finish it under 4hrs, maybe less. Then it should take me about a week to walk again

I suppose cheesy hits the nail on the head it's made by the yanks so it was always gonna be a cheese fest. Besides I do circuits at work that get me into a swimming in sweat state anyway so maybe that's why I don't rate it for being as insane as it tries to make out :/

Ok, i've done my race... first of the year, and toughest i believe!
Last year i did the StrongManRun, found it extremely hard, with 20km of running in the mud, 25-30 obstacles, 300m elevation.

This race, the Braveheart Battle Run, was 26km, muddy all the way, 4°C outside, water at only 1°C, and we crossed the nearby river about 15 times, sometimes swimming for almost 100meters, bloody cold and extreme! Elevation was around 7km positive, and the same in negative. 40 obstacles.

To summarize it : I've never taken my body to such extremes, never been so far in pain, cramps everywhere (they had only 4 pitstops along the track, almost never had water!). I finish under 4 hours, which was one of my goals, along with simply finishing the damn thing!
My legs hurt like hell, although I'm better trained than last year so the pain is already fading away quite quickly. To give you a kind of "image" of how extreme it was : between this morning and tonight, and after rehydrating myself heavily, I've lost 3kgs, which is approx 6.6 pounds!!!

If anyone is interested, I'll put up a complete review of the event once I have some photos and my final result. I've already written the text but have to translate it from french to english.

Well done Yotah :) glad it went well enough that your still able to comment this evening.

I'm just back from a meer 4mile run and half way through I thought of you doing 16 in the cold and wet

End result is 3 hours 53 minutes of running, and 645th place. Compared to my 880th place year at the StrongManRun against the same runners mostly, it's a good improvement. Now I need to make it even better on the training side (i must work more long distance runs, and every two days do some interval training routines too!

Wow congratulations Yotah! That is an amazing accomplishment, I would die before I got 1/4 of the way round lol. Well done!!

Thank you guys :)
It was tough, but it's addicting! I have to change a bit my training method to be able to adapt more easily to the rythm changes as that's what is the toughest in those races.

I'm starting to do jogging as I've got race for life in may and I've done no exercise since last year, did it 47 minutes last year but I'm hoping to do it quicker this year.

Going to stop eating takeaways all the time as its a waste of money and I'm getting a bit of chubby lately :(

12 weeks of dieting hell...
Starting weight was around 17st,
